What is the Change of Preference period?

During specified periods during Year 12 and after your results are released, you will be able to add, remove or re-order your course preferences in your VTAC course application. These periods give you the chance to carefully consider your application and speak to us to answer any questions before you make your decision.

There are several ways you can connect with us during the Change of Preference periods.

When can I change my VTAC preference?

Change of Preference opens on 31 July and closes on 13 December 2023. It will reopen 21-22 December 2023 and again in January and February 2024. Deakin College will be available to take online and phone queries during each Change of Preference round.

What are the requirements needed for entry into a Deakin College Diploma?

For domestic students who are under 21 years old, the entry requirement into Deakin College is one of the following:

• Successful completion of an Australian Year 12 (VCE, VCE VM or the equivalent from any Australian state or territory), or;
• Certificate IV (12-month course)

I am a Year 12 student, do I apply directly via Deakin College’s website or via VTAC?

Australian students should apply through VTAC, unless:

• You are applying for a Deakin College course that begins in June or October or;
• You are applying for a Deakin College course that starts in March and you are not currently studying a standard Australian Year 12 curriculum or;
• The VTAC Change of Preference rounds have closed for the March intake.
