Modern facilities and famous beaches: the best of both worlds

The campus at Waurn Ponds is located on the western edge of Geelong, home to the renowned Geelong Technology Precinct. The campus is thoroughly modern, with spacious buildings and purpose-built classrooms as well as outdoor areas and parklands to enjoy.

When you aren’t learning or studying, you can spend time at some of Australia’s most beautiful beaches - right at your doorstep – including the world-famous Great Ocean Road.

The Waurn Ponds Campus offers extensive sporting and lifestyle facilities, including a running track, deluxe health club with fully equipped gym, group fitness classes and workout studios. 

The close links with the technology precinct provide incredible research and development opportunities for students, both via industry partnerships and new enterprises in the region.

Deakin provides a free intercampus bus from the Geelong Waurn Ponds campus to the Geelong Waterfront campus.

Geelong’s Waurn Ponds train station is the closest station to the campus. V/Line trains operate throughout the day on the Geelong–Melbourne line and take just over an hour and 15 minutes from Melbourne or 20 minutes from the centre of Geelong.

There are plenty of bus services that run from the Geelong’s city centre, Geelong railway station and the Waurn Ponds railway station to the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus.

There is also a free shuttle bus between the Waurn Ponds and Waterfront campuses that runs frequently. This is the most convenient way to travel between the Geelong campuses.

The Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus is just over an hour from Melbourne by car, depending on traffic, and about 15 minutes from the centre of Geelong.

The best way to navigate your way to campus is to use Google Maps or your GPS.

Deakin provides a free carpool matching service to both students and staff to help you find someone to carpool with. If you decide to carpool and are bringing someone else in your car you can use the carpooling car park.

Parking

If you’re going to be driving and parking regularly on campus, it’s best to register for a long term vPermit pass. Alternatively, paid parking is available on campus at a number of car parks using the CellOPark app. The campus has a free visitor car park.

If you like to be active and keep fit then cycling into campus might be a great option. The Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus is connected to a number of scenic bicycle trails. On campus you’ll find showers and change rooms, bike racks and lockers to make your commute as easy and safe as possible. Alternatively, or you can park your bike at Barwon Valley Activity Centre (BVAC) and jump on the Cube bus to the campus.
