At Deakin College, we know that change can be tricky. That’s why we’re here to support you to be confident to settle in to Melbourne, and adjust to university life. The Under-18 Management Program helps you with moving to Australia, living out of home for the first time and achieving academic results you can be proud of.
Under-18 Management Program
If you’re under 18 years old when you accept your Deakin offer, you are required to be part of the Deakin College Under-18 Management Program. The program makes starting uni easier and makes sure you’re taken care of until you turn 18.
As part of the program, you’ll be assigned a Guardian. Your Guardian will be your first point of contact for anything you need. They'll be happy to answer any questions you may have while you’re under our care. You’ll be living at one of the cosy Deakin Residences. Each residence has a caretaker who will look out for you around the clock. As well as this, the program supports you with access to Student Counsellors.

From the moment you accept your Deakin offer, you’ll be appointed a Guardian who will look out for your safety and security. They’ll also help you adjust to life in Australia so that you can quickly settle into life at Deakin College.
Your Guardian will be your main point of contact until you turn 18. They will be in regular contact with both you and your parents. If you need any help or just want someone to talk to, your Guardian is the best person to go to.

As an under-18 student, you’ll be staying at a Deakin Residence located close to your campus. You’ll be staying with other students, which makes it easy to make friends as soon as you reach Australia.
No matter which residence you choose, you’ll have a live-in caretaker in your shared accommodation. They will look out for your welfare and safety throughout the trimester (and during the breaks if you and your parents choose this option).

When you arrive in Melbourne, our staff can meet you at the airport and transfer you to your residence. It’s a free service and will help you to get on your feet faster.
So that we know when to meet you, please follow these steps to book your airport pick-up:
- Fill out an application form at least three business days before you arrive in Melbourne
- Tell us which Deakin Residence you’ll be staying at so we know where to drop you off.
