Your orientation week starts the week before your classes do. It is an activity-packed week, full of fun activities and exciting events that will help you meet new people and get settled in. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about your course and enrol in your units so that you’re prepared for an easy transition to tertiary studies.
Attending Orientation is important. You’ll be guided through the enrolment and class selection process. You'll also have a chance to buy your textbooks and obtain your Deakin College student ID card.
Trimester 2, 2024 Orientation will run during the week of 17 - 21 June 2024.
Orientation will be on campus for students in Australia and online for domestic students unable to attend in person.
Orientation is hosted at Melbourne Burwood and Geelong Waurn Ponds campuses. Check your campus program above to see which building and room you need to attend.

While it’s essential that you attend the Deakin College Orientation, there are lots of other optional activities going on in Orientation week that you can take part in across all the university campuses.
You’re always welcome to join the Deakin Uni social activities and events run by DUSA throughout the week. Whether you join the famous Beats N Eats siesta, tour the campuses, or join the Mystery Bus Tour, you’re guaranteed to have a lot of fun and meet plenty of new people.
If you’re an international student, there are also events run by Study Melbourne and Study Geelong during Orientation week and beyond.
Visit the Study Melbourne Student Centre in the city centre - it’s dedicated to providing information and practical support to international students studying in Victoria.
Once the fun of Orientation is over, it might take you some time to adjust to your new life at Deakin College - especially if you’ve come from a different country or haven’t studied in awhile. If you need any help settling in or are struggling with your studies, we offer plenty of support services to get you back on track.
Our Student Counsellors are always available to chat to you about study or personal issues, including accommodation difficulties, family matters, attendance issues or homesickness.
And our Student Learning Advisors are here to help you develop good study skills and prepare you for success in your assignments and exams.

During the trimester, important student information will also be posted regularly on the 'Student Hub', so log in to the Student Portal and click on the 'Student Hub' tile on the Home page every week.
